Leading Community Change is the initiation into full participation in DOT’s YLP for those youth who have been selected to act as change agents in their community. This unit marks an increased investment both in terms of DOTs support and youths’ commitment to community impact.

The unit begins with a 10-day, face-to-face workshop that builds on the strong ICT skills of participants to explore the Internet as a community building tool. Young leaders also gain practical skills on how to work with diverse groups, to recognise and address the challenges faced by women in society, and to explore the sustainable development goals.

The unit build on the introduction to facilitation and experiential learning methods and provides an opportunity to apply facilitation skills by the facilitating the Strengths, Skills, Passions and Assets workshop in the Leadership Opportunity unit. Following the F2F workshop, participants complete additional online learning developing environmental sustainability and web participation skills. Leading Community Change is estimated to take one month to complete.
